Software License

The current public MOV release uses a source-available license designed to keep adoption easy while protecting MOV from being repackaged as a competing substitute.

PolyForm Perimeter License 1.0.1Applied to public MOV release software

License

The public MOV software is offered under the PolyForm Perimeter License 1.0.1. The canonical license terms are published by the PolyForm Project at polyformproject.org/licenses/perimeter/1.0.1.

The canonical PolyForm terms control. This page is a product-level explanation, not a replacement for the license text.

Practical boundary

In practical terms, the license is intended to let developers use, modify and distribute MOV—including as part of their own products—while preventing use of MOV to provide others with a product marketed as a substitute for MOV's functionality or value.

If your planned use may compete with MOV, or you need a different redistribution/commercial grant, contact us before relying on the software.

Release-package evidence

The downloadable package identifies its license in package metadata and includes the canonical PolyForm Perimeter URL in the packaged README so a clean-install consumer can discover the applicable terms without depending on this landing page.

Commercial exceptions

For licensing questions or a separately negotiated commercial license, email sarmad@machineoutcome.com.

Why this model: free download should not mean ambiguous rights, and explicit rights should not force MOV to give up the ability to monetize its own Runtime Acceptance category.
